Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is the biological degradation of organic matter in the absence of oxygen. During this process, much of the organic matter is converted to biogas, a mix of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and a nutrient rich digestate that can be use as fertilizer. Biogas is a renewable energy source and can substitute oil and gas and be used for power and heat production or acts as alternative fuel.

AD consider as the most efficient way for the reduction of organic load in wastewater, and the polluting load of organic solids such as manure, sludge and food waste. It is thus, a complete depollution. A correctly controlled anaerobic digestion leads to very high rates of purification.

Multi stage Intensive anaerobic Reactors (MIR)

Traditional AD require high volume reactors with long retention time to achieve sufficient biodegradability (breakdown) of the organic waste. High volume result in high capital investment and large footprint.

Rainbowtec’s use a series of high rate reactors (2-3) capable of retaining a much higher organic load than traditional AD with shorter hydraulic retention time, means: smaller volume to load rate, lower investment and small footprint. In addition, a higher solid breakdown is achieved – about 40% higher, meaning, higher energy output and less remains to be further treated.

Rainbowtec offer the MIR system for sludge treatment, food waste (OFMSW), high load industrial wastewater and agriculture waste.

Mini – Plant

Anaerobic digestion is today a popular and successfully solution at average-high scale facilities. However, there is a huge demand for small-scale system for small farms and wastewater treatment plants, islands and even small remote towns. The challenge is both economical and operational.

Rainbowtec’s  is now offering the Mini – Plant technology, a small and smart solution.

The system is based on pre-made modular units that are pre-tested prior to shipment. The system can be assembled at the client’s site in a few weeks, providing an ultra-quick deployment even in remote areas. The system modular design meets any size or waste type.

A fully automated system can be remotely controlled by Rainowtec’s professional team, supporting the client’s operation and ensures maximal system’s performance.

The SRS – Smart Reactor Separator

Over 1 billion tons of garbage are generated globally with an annual growth of 7%. Due to inefficient technologies most of the waste is dumped (landfill). Regulation and support program are trying to minimize landfilling and encourage recycling thus creating great opportunities for alternative treatments, through elevated market prices for landfilling. In spite of regulatory fines imposed on landfilling, the waste industry is still struggling in its search for adequate solutions. The main stumble is waste composition. In order to enable technically and economically efficient treatment, waste needs to be sorted. Currently available technologies are too expensive and their meager results do not reward for the costs involved. We at Rainbowtec present our sophisticated, and yet simple, solution to this problem – The SRS (Smart Reactor Separator) which solves one of the major global problems of municipal solid waste (MSW) or garbage.

A modular system for high separation of municipal solid waste (MSW). The system can be integrated (plug-in) in any existing technology either as main separator or as secondary separation, in new or existing waste treatment facility, providing high separation performance with ultra-low operation cost.

Status:

It is patented (national stage – USA/EU).

The SRS is currently in its final development stages. A commercial scale pilot has already been running with source separated organic and undersize material (<80mm) from mix MSW. The SRS showed excellent performance for both waste streams. The SRS is now in the process to be integrated into a commercial scale waste treatment plant.
